Aim of the workshop:
This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in learning how to use Oil/Acrylics paints on location. Techniques to improve observation and drawing skills. Brush control and colour mixing.
Stewart will be using Oil paints on the day, but you are more than welcome to use Acrylics or Watercolours if preferred.
- Titanium White
- Yellow Ochre and or Nickel Yellow
- Cadmium Yellow or Windsor Yellow
- Cadmium Orange
- Cadmium Red
- Alizarin Crimson or Magenta
- Cerulean Blue or Teal/Turquoise
- Cobalt Blue Hue or Windsor Blue/Phthalo Blue
- Viridian or Sap Green
- Dioxazine purple
- Burnt Sienna
- Raw Umber or Burnt Umber
- Ivory Black
- Liquin and or Alkyd medium. (Not for Acrylics)
- Odourless White spirits or turps (Not for Acrylics)
Brushes: Hog Hair Brushes, Large, Medium and Small. Synthetic brushes Large, Medium and Small and a Rigger.
Rags and plenty of Kitchen roll (Also bring a plastic bag to put the rubbish in while your painting)
Some clips and tape in case its windy.
An Easel to work on.
Ground to paint on:
- Acrylic Gesso Primed Boards/Canvas.
- Sizes from 12”x16” or 16”x 20”
Venue Directions – Lower Exbury – Pass Exbury Gardens on the right, continue straight on. As the road bends sharply to the left (at the water tower into Exbury village) take the road Inchmery lane which continues straight on wards and out of the village. Follow this road for about 1 mile. You will drive along a long straight section which goes downhill & from where you can see the sea and Isle of Wight. There is a round mirror there. At this point the road bends sharply to the left, take the dirt road which bends sharply to the right. Follow this road until the end where we will meet at 10 am.
You will need to bring your own packed lunch as no shops local without driving. Tea, Coffee and Biscuits will be provided.
