Portrait Painting How to Commission and Price List
Portrait - The process of a commission.
Portrait Painting How to Commission starts with an initial contact, and discussion about the following.
- Who the subject is?
- What the occasion or reason for the commission might be.
- Where the subject will be located/setting.
- What the subject might wear or be with.
- Size of the piece
- Time scales
Armed with this information I then setup a few further meetings to do initial sketches and reference shots.
From this I work up several composition ideas and present them for feedback.
Once a composition has been approved, I start the actual painting.
About halfway through the final painting, so you can see how it is progressing I will ask for feedback. This is often a good time if you want some small changes to make them.
Once the commission is complete, I will deliver it personally. Framing options can also be discussed and arranged before delivery.
These are images of happy customers and their paintings.
